Pseudotoad is a Helsinki based crossover of software production and media art who take a sociological and a philosophical stance torwards technology. For their work Pseudotoad function as an interface between real-time low-level polygon modelling and multimedia works of art, musical pieces, club events and stadion rock visuals. Their past collaborators include the artist collective CNCD, the audiovisual explorers Amfibio, the electronic art festival PixelACHE plus several students and graduates from the Centre for Music and Technology, the Media Lab at UIAH and the Multimedia Laboratory at HUT. As their work ethics Pseudotoad strives to promote the overall concept of self-made computer programs as crafted artifacts instead of just functional implementations within an industrial process. The diversified members behind Pseudotoad all have a background in the Finnish demoscene, but also hold a degree in or are students of sociology, film editing and corporate strategy.
